Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a trance like state or an altered state of consciousness.
It is also characterized as a very relaxed sleep-like state usually
induced by another person, or may be conducted by oneself
(self-hypnosis). The client retains awareness of the presence of
the hypnotist and their surroundings, in which the client is usually
so relaxed that they are open to heightened levels of suggestibility.
What is the difference between Hypnosis and
Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is practiced by anyone who has training and preferably
certification in hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is any clinical therapy
where hypnosis is the primary modality of treatment. Only a
licensed clinician could practice hypnotherapy.
What is Hypnosis used for?
Perhaps the most common uses for hypnosis are smoking cessation
